Blacklight Still Life with Green Figs

art blog art show black light art contemporary still life painting fruit painting green figs home decor mixed media painting original art wall decor

Recently I rediscovered my neon art from around 2010 - 2014 and was inspired further upon seeing them lit with a blacklight tube I'd sourced online. Then I happened to see some green figs for the first time - ever - in the local greengrocery and the path for my first completed acrylic/mixed media still life painting for 2023 was set!

This painting has been worked on with mixed media elements including metal foil, Swarovski crystal and acrylic paint - both regular and "blacklight" neon colours. The capture below shows the neon UV reactive "blacklight" paint with the black light on.

The borders on my mixed media paintings are time consuming to make, depending on environmetal pressures such as humidity and  other seasonal factors - they can take 3 - 10 days to complete.
This painting is available for public viewing at the George Hicks Foundation Contemporary Art Exhibition 2023, in the Hammond Gallery. The Contemporary Art Exhibition is an annual event held by the Victorian Artists Society, 430 Albert Street, East Melbourne.
The exhibition runs from 3 - 21 March, 2023 in the three first floor galleries. Gallery hours are Mon - Fri 10am - 4pm Sat - Sun 11am - 4pm
This artwork is also available for sale online from 8th March:
